Higher Temperature, Longer Service Life
Silicon metal granule and powder are added to refractory materials and refractory ceramics to improve their high-temperature oxidation resistance. At service temperature, silicon helps form protective phases that slow oxidation and extend the working life of the refractory.
Silicon metal is also the raw material for silicon carbide (SiC) and silicon nitride (Si₃N₄) — advanced refractory and structural materials prized for their hardness, thermal-shock resistance and high-temperature strength.
